Moms are the Pilates Bond at PNWP

by Leslie Braverman on May 13, 2017

Pacific NW Pilates is mom-strong. Moms, grandmas and mothers-to-be make Pilates at PNWP an important part of their busy lives. In fact, generations of moms make time to move because, well, moms know best—Pilates makes them feel and look better.

Today is Mother’s Day—a day to celebrate motherhood and maternal bonds. What better way to show our admiration than to share the stories of women who make mothering—at every stage—look gorgeous.

Mom and Instructor Trainer, Katherine Brown does Pilates a month before she brings baby Jack into the world.

“Pilates is better than botox. It’s our preferred luxury.”—Portland, Carol & Fanny Adams

Portland, Carol and Fanny Adams share a Pilates bond.

“Pilates is my favorite thing. It has completely changed my body,” says Carol who started Pilates 15 years ago after a physical therapist suggested it. Initially Portland and Fanny took their mother’s classes when she was away. Today, they both commit to weekly Pilates classes of their own.  Portland says pregnancy is what made her really commit to Pilates 9 years ago. Fanny agrees. Pregnant with her second child, she claims, “I have a better body after my baby than before, all thanks to Pilates.”

“My Mom brings a sense of fun and camaraderie to every Pilates class; it wouldn’t be the same without her.”—Emma Uebele

The mother/daughter duo, Ellen and Emma Uebele, move in Pilates tandem.

Emma Uebele started Pilates 10 years ago to help her injuries and chronic pain. “Being so mobile, Pilates helps me stay aligned and strong. Pilates was the first exercise I had experienced that made me feel good afterwards.” says Emma.

Why not want the same thing for her mom?

Last year Emma graduated from PNWP’s international education program and started teaching at the studio. Ellen has devotedly attended her Thursday reformer class ever since. She views Pilates a little bit like car maintenance—a necessary element to keeping things running well for a long period of time. And, spending time with her daughter makes it all worthwhile.

“It’s so much fun to have her in my class! Especially as a new teacher, she has been a wonderful support. My mom brings a great sense of fun and camaraderie to Pilates class; it wouldn’t be the same without her,” says Emma.

We’re mad about all our moms who Pilates on. Happy Mother’s Day! xoxo

Great Post, Is there a citation from Pilate’s rehabilitation?

Hi Fraddy,

There are many articles and studies on the benefits of Pilates for rehab or therapy. Take a look online for specific articles. Here are a couple of blogs we’ve written that you may find intriguing:
