“Link For Pink” Tribute

by pnwp on September 15, 2011

Donate in Someone’s Honor!

Do you know someone who’s had breast cancer and you’d like to honor? Get them a link on our “Link For Pink” tribute chain! Each name will be placed on paper links and added to our growing chain in the studio – we’ll take it with us on Sunday, Oct 2nd for “Pilates for Pink in the Park”! Call Shannon at the studio to donate now: info@pacificnwpilates.com, 503-292-4409.

Eve Stern (pictured here with son Alex) is a breast cancer survivor and PNWP client since 2004. In Eve’s words: I started Pilates after a friend suggested I might like it since I generally disliked all forms of exercise.  When I received my diagnosis of Breast Cancer, I surprised myself by continuing to attend even though I had the perfect excuse to quit.  I would drag my poor radiated and chemo’d body out of bed, don my headscarf and drive to the studio for an hour of healthy input.

I received a great amount of support from Pacific NW Pilates. Whenever I arrived for my sessions, I was greeted with warm smiles of tenderness and encouragement that kept me going on even the toughest days. My personal instructors, Sue and Janet, quietly cheered me on and strengthened both my body and my soul.

For that hour, twice a week, I felt normal and strong and in control of what was happening to me. I will always be eternally grateful for what the medical community did to heal my body. I am equally appreciative of what my Pilates experience did to strengthen my, both physically and mentally.”

If you’d like to also pay tribute to someone on this page, send us a photo and their info and we’d love to share with our community!

Pilates for Pink in the Park!

by pnwp on September 7, 2011

Sunday, October 2nd

Pilates for Pink

This annual national breast cancer awareness initiative started six years ago by SHAPE Magazine and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Pilates studios across the country host special classes in October where 100% of the proceeds are donated to breast cancer research and to date, over $800,000 has been raised.

Pacific Northwest Pilates has been a proud participant of this campaign since the beginning and now for 2011, we want to kick it up a notch and host a public class in a park, just like the nationally covered event that SHAPE holds in New York City! Join Melanie, Leslie and all the PNWP Angels to make this West Coast version BIG & beautiful!

Register now!

The Event:

  • Sunday, October 2nd, starting at 9am in Washington Park in the Stevens Pavilion at the Arboretum.
  • Event will include an informative presentation on breast cancer, followed by 2 Pilates group classes all hosted by PNWP owners, Melanie & Leslie. See the full descriptions & times.
  • $25 registration which will include a “Pilates Angels for Pink” t-shirt – all proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
  • Participants will have opportunity to donate in the name of someone at the event, as we string our “Link for Pink” across the park.
  • Refreshments served.
  • View the event postcard.

Thank You to Our Wonderful Sponsors!
