Angel of the Season

by pnwp on April 8, 2013

emilyEvery season, we introduce a new Angel to you. We are so proud of our wonderful instructors and would love for you to know them better!

Emily Keane is certified in STOTT PILATES mat and reformer and has completed the Injuries and Special Populations course. She began her personal Pilates practice during high school and quickly gained a profound respect for the system. A firm believer in the importance of the mind-body connection, Emily infuses her teaching with enthusiasm, humor and a personal connection that communicates her faith in the importance of healthy movement. Read more about Emily and see her schedule here.

5 Things About Emily:

Most treasured possession: A book my dad gave me called “Find and Use Your Inner Power”, by Emmett Fox. It has served as a real guide and go-to in times of trouble and has become something of a talisman. My pops had it for years, so it’s full of his notes and pictures and cards from me and my sisters growing up.

Favorite movie: Nostalgia, by Hollis Frampton. It’s a beautiful piece of art that explores memory, identity and representation in a very quiet, and miraculously unpretentious way and it has a very spooky ending. I also LOVE Steel Magnolias. Dolly Parton. Sigh.

Favorite music/musician: This is a tough one as I’m a huge music fan. Right now, I’m obsessed with Supertramp’s “Breakfast in America”, but I’m very excited about David Bowie’s new record too.

Favorite quote:  “Hit ‘em where they ain’t” – Willie Keeler. Straight and simple.

Favorite way to spend free time: I really love to be quiet, so I take a lot of walks (Tabor!) and read a ton. I also treasure the time I spend with my boyfriend and friends. Girls night every Monday, adventure dates a few times a week!

Angel of the Season

by pnwp on January 7, 2013

SueEvery season, we introduce a new Angel to you! We are so proud of our wonderful instructors and would love for you to know them better!

Sue Brantley has been a full time STOTT PILATES instructor since 2003 and has a great interest in using both yoga and Pilates as a therapeutic, rehabilitative tool. One of the greatest joys for her as a teacher is seeing people re-claim their bodies and finding ease and comfort instead of pain and confusion.  Read more about Sue and see her schedule here.

5 Things About Sue:

Most important lesson learned: To have patience and compassion with myself and others. To give myself the same benefit of the doubt I give to other people. I try to impart that idea in my teaching as well as live my life like that.

Favorite quote: “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Anais Nin

Most influential book: To Kill A Mockingbird was a huge influence in my life. When Atticus told Scout to “put yourself in someone else’s shoes,” that stayed with me. In fact, empathy is a huge part of my value system to this day. Fabulous book, wonderful life lessons.

Most treasured possession: The box of letters my husband and I wrote to each other while living halfway across the world from each other.

Favorite way to spend free time: Outside doing activities in or on the water or just having a nice meal/picnic.  In the winter, I love reading, with a cat on my lap, while the crock pot is bubbling away in the kitchen.

Angel of the Season!

by pnwp on September 5, 2012

Every season, we introduce a new Angel to you! We are so proud of our wonderful instructors and would love for you to know them better!

Traci Culberson has been a fully certified STOTT PILATES instructor since July 2002 and has 20 years of group training experience. Her recent teaching passion has been the Franklin Method, helping clients learn how their bodies function and improving movement in their everyday lives. Read more about Traci and see her schedule here.

5 Things About Traci:

Favorite way to spend free time:  Relaxing with my husband on a boat on the river.

Favorite vacation spot:  Hanalei Bay in Kauai.  When someone says “go to your happy place,” that beach is the first thing that comes to mind. My second favorite is house-boating on Lake Shasta.

Most influential book:  The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman.  It helped me  better understand that people need to be shown love in different ways.

Favorite quote:  “Dance like nobody’s watching; love like you’ve never been hurt; sing like nobody’s listening; and live like it’s heaven on earth.”   Mark Twain

Most important lesson learned:  Life can be too short.  We need to spend as much time and give as much love as we can to our family and friends
